Read a great article by Todd Finley and the future of the onlie learning environment. This really excited me! The "Personal Learning Environment" (PLE) is very exciting. A new interface in learning management systems is long due. Not that the D2L hasn't worked to kick off achademic learning online, but I envisioned a better method to dissiminate information, discuss content, and to link to other mediums. Once more, Todd shows that whimsie and humor can accutally be integrated in design of educational learning systems. No more dry text, text and more text bleating us into learning submission. I want dynamic, eye-catching, humor, and stimulating witt that flows so effortless into my gray matter that I barely know it is creating deep and long lasting neural connections. Kudos to you Todd and all the educators who work to take online learning to the next level!

Bonnie, I thought the article was a good one too. I noodled around following some of the hyper-linked resources.
Bonnie,
Wow! I love that you are thinking like this because I am in complete agreement. My task for the second-half of the summer is to update our online continuing education website. I do not find D2L really allows for too much creativity within its foundational framework nor is it all that user friendly. Teaching online doesn't have to be so dry which is why I really like what they've done at UWM with U-Pace. I'd love a platform that would allow greater flexibility within its program where we wouldn't have to go outside of it for blogs, wiki's to mix things up.
By the way I think I read this before because now I know where I found the design book I just picked up from the library.
Thank you for sharing....Mary S.
Keep pushing the envelop!
Bonnie,
You certainly have pushed my envelope - not only with the article you refer to (which I enjoyed), but also with all the neat gadgets on your blogger site. Thanks!
Mary U.
Bonnie,
My apologies for the late response but I'm doing my check off list today and realized this still needs to be checked off.
You asked about U-Pace. Heidi posted a link on the home page of the course but here it is also http://www.newswise.com/articles/unique-online-teaching-method-at-uwm-earns-national-attention2
I think you will enjoy the creativity of this online desgin.
Hope you are enjoying your sunny and warm weekend.
